Smart Reader is a Phonics-based Reading Skills Development Program for young readers of the English Language.
Phonics teaches children how to decode letters into their respective sounds. It essentially builds letter-sound knowledge which helps children read unfamiliar words all by themselves. This is the basic building block of reading skills-we start by explaining each letter of the alphabet in terms of the various sounds it makes.
Using multi-sensory methods,children learn how to form and write the letters.
Children are taught how to blend sounds together to read and write new words.
Children are taught the 42 main letter sounds.This includes alphabet sounds and digraphs like sh,th,ai and ue.
These words have irregular spellings and children learn them separately.
